Notes on a false silicon mirror

lqdb.pl is a false silicon mirror. The phrase sounds ornamental, but it is a precise description of what the system does with attention.

A reflection is free. You can look at an idea from every angle without committing to any of them. Most digital tools are rooms of mirrors: infinite views, no consequences. Nothing you see has to survive the night.

The boundary

Silicon changes that. When a thought is written down — compiled, deployed, given an address — it crosses a boundary. On one side it could be anything; on the other side it is something specific, with a shape that can be wrong.

That crossing is what lqdb calls the silicon boundary:

thing → reflection → silicon boundary → dot → record

The dot in the middle matters most. It is small on purpose. A point of record is not a feed item or a post; it is a fixed coordinate. Either it holds, or it breaks.

What this site is

projects.lqdb.pl is the public half of that movement. Everything listed here passed through the boundary and was then — deliberately, manually — made visible. Nothing becomes public by accident, and nothing private becomes public automatically.
